Filmed several months ago, this footage remained forgotten for a while, perhaps because I felt the painting aimed towards its conclusion in a too controlled and linear way, making it less interesting to watch. There are few viewing angles and the whole studio is always shrouded in darkness. However, seeing it again after a while I somewhat changed my judgment, finding some of its parts dynamic and lively, bringing back nice memories of the making of this painting.
It is “Clowns”, from the Masquerade collection, size 85×135 cm., painted mainly with self-made tempera grassa and some touches of acrovinilico, pastels and charcoal. The technique used, together with the canvas’ high absorbency, made it possible to work very quickly and with several layers for each painting session. The work was then fixed and varnished.
