Francesco D'Adamo

“I am the rest between two notes, which are somehow always in discord because Death’s note wants to climb over —
but in the dark interval, reconciled, they stay there trembling. And the song goes on, beautiful.”

R.M. Rilke

As Francesco D’Adamo‘s first properly structured series, Dyssomnia began in 2013, evolved through alternate phases and transformations, and continued until 2023. Born from a desire to create a dialogue between musical and painterly formal values, the Dyssomnia collection was represented by the Eye Contemporary Art Gallery, featuring a solo exhibition in Hong Kong in 2019 and the publication of two dedicated catalogs (2019 and 2023). The name of the series reflects the artist’s urgency during these early years, when painting was confined to the night hours.
